Pancreatic Injury Repair & Fatty Pancreas Disease

Pancreatic Injury Repair & Fatty Pancreas Disease · School of Medicine, Yangzhou University

Welcome to Lu Lab

Lu Lab, led by Professor Guotao Lu at the School of Medicine, Yangzhou University, focuses on two core areas: pancreatic injury repair and Fatty Pancreas Disease (FPD), spanning the full spectrum from molecular mechanisms to clinical translation.

Centered on the two major clinical challenges of acute pancreatitis — "pancreatic necrosis" and "multiple organ failure" — the team systematically elucidates the pathological mechanisms of key cellular events including acinar cell necrosis, neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs), and macrophage efferocytosis, while advancing interventional translational research on inflammatory comorbidities (sepsis, rheumatoid arthritis, liver injury, intestinal injury, diabetic foot, etc.).

In the field of Fatty Pancreas Disease, the team has dedicated over a decade to elevating FPD from a vague imaging concept to an independent disease entity with clear definitions, diagnostic criteria, and intervention strategies, making it a core intervention point for the proactive prevention and control of major pancreatic diseases such as pancreatitis and pancreatic cancer, as well as metabolic diseases like diabetes.
